Thanks to a gift from Walt Disney 40 years ago, there are American Bison (buffalo) in the park. At the present time there are 9 of them, two of which are expecting calves. The last remaining bison from Disney's gift died in 1994.

about Walt Disney's donation of bison to the Wm. S. Hart Park see http://www.scvhistory.com/scvhistory/hart-buffalo-ralphstory.htm http://www.scvhistory.com/scvhistory/buffalo-county-letters.htm
The bison are
routinely traded for others from ranches and preserves, in order to
prevent inbreeding. One calf was born here, in June of 2001. Her
name is June Dakota. And in April of this year, another was born --
named April! |
